Fic: In the Moment

Fic: In the Moment

Well, I won't lie to you, folks; I was in the mood for a bit of shameless Four/Romana love - here's hoping you are too! This sort of straddles the gap between Season 17, which to my mind was all about having fun and holidaying around the cosmos, and Season 18, which is all about getting old and waiting for the other shoe to drop. And some random Doctor origin-story stuff for the hell of it. Obviously, I do not own Doctor Who or any of the characters or concepts connected to it; that is very much the BBC's prerogative.

You're probably right. I doubt he cares about what they get up to.:D He so does have feelings, though.

Oh yeah, he totally has feelings - he gets all smug when he's just succeeded in making the Doctor look stupid. I love it when he bosses people around, like all of those medieval folk in State of Decay, when he's sitting up on the throne and everything... The way Four and Romana and Leela before her all treat him like he's a real dog is nice as well.

He could have been gimmicky and annoying, but they somehow managed to give him a personality that wasn't either of those things. He does seem to enjoy bossing when he's allowed. Like when he runs for president in The Well-Mannered War.

OT: I've been thinking about whether the Doctor might have visited Susan after all. I keep imagining a story where he visits her once every regeneration. He'd always go alone, except for Four, who brings Romana along.

Well, I can see how some people might think K-9 was a part of the "silliness" that the later Four era is perceived to have fallen into. I like him, though, smug little tin god that he is; maybe I'm silly too! Big question, though; how did he get up on that throne?!

I think that's a good fic idea, there; I do wonder sometimes about the lack of Susan mentions in later Who; I mean, even in the Five Doctors, the later Doctors didn't seem as overjoyed to see her as you might expect. Sort of familial awkwardness, though, when granddad shows up with his new, much younger, girlfriend... XD

No, those people are silly for failing to see the greatness of K-9! As for the throne, who knows? Maybe he ordered them to lift him up there.

He might not have intented to bring her along: She keeps to herself, somewhere in the TARDIS and Susan bumps into herself when she wants to see her old home again. Or he does bring her along, but doesn't consider the significance of this before it's time for introductions. It just seemed natural.

Makes sense; he also kills and/or incapactitates some ridiculous number of guards in that story. Truly, K-9 is to be underestimated at your peril... ;D

Yeah, I can see that - he tells her to stay in the TARDIS while he takes care of something, but naturally she thinks she knows better... Or as you say, Romana and Susan alone without the Doctor knowing about it - that might make for an interesting conversation...
