It's an odd little serial and curses be on the Blue Peter Production Office all over again for losing the ending! BUt, yeah, even with what we've got of the end, it gives me chills when William Hartnell, who's clearly been too ill to even be in ep3, is suddenly, "It's far from being all over!" in the sort of way only he can. *shivers* And nobody knew then it would really work.
The original Cybermen are indeed, so creepy. The rest of the serial is a mix of good stuff and that very tiresome Kit pedler/Gerry Davis stuff (they were SO much better in Doomwatch! Although even then the audience of 1970 had to write in to tell them they were being sexist, although to their credit, they apologised and did much better next series.) Ben winds up getting injured again. You'd almost think he just likes the attention it gets him from Polly!
