I honestly don't know; I'm continually amazed by what I think of as "modern" turns of phrase cropping up in things like Sherlock Holmes stories, but in this case, as the Doctor observes, it is a bit difficult to rhyme anything with "pyramids", isn't it? It is for me, anyway.

I hope Four and Romana's Statler-and-Waldorf routine and things like the "sting!" aren't too clever-clever for their own good, butting up against the fourth wall as they do. At the time I was prevaricating about writing this, I was watching a lot of Season 17 stories and reading reviews of them online, and was struck by how, well, mean a lot of people still are about things like Creature from the Pit and Horns of Nimon. Sure, they're silly, but they're also hugely entertaining, and even make one or two serious points along the way, and have Four and Romana in them being all adorable and stuff...

So, yeah, I've decided that this is sort of my tribute to those stories and why I love them; hope to continue it soonish.
