Fic: Fearful Symmetry

Fic: Fearful Symmetry, Prologue: The Dance of Death

I've wanted to write something substantial involving Eleven for a while now. Here’s what I’ve got so far. I can’t promise very frequent updates as I’m trying to write some original fiction at the same time, but hopefully this will be completed by the time the Xmas special comes along and Josses it completely (although, remember that thing with the Sontarans in the jungle…?). Thanks to my online associates [livejournal.com profile] clocketpatch  and [livejournal.com profile] akashasheiress  for the discussions regarding Eleven fic over the past few weeks. And remember; Doctor Who and its various characters and copyrights definitely, definitely do not belong to me.

Well, maybe there's more variety over there; I mainly read fic on Teaspoon and there's still an awful lot of Ten stuff getting posted on there. Not that there's anything wrong with that...

No, I mean there's not much variation in said comm, as it's still the same ships being posted/written all the damn time. It's as bad as when it was all Doctor/Rose (y, I know, I shouldn't be following it if I don't care for it, but... I keep hoping for a nugget). Except for Amy/Rory. I like Amy/Rory.

*makes notes; Amy/Rory*...

Amy/Rory is _nice_; she doesn't always treat him right, but he hangs in there and she does love him really...awww...

I keep being confronted by Eleven/Rose in my search for good this era fic and for some reason that offends my sensibilities so much more than the people who write AnyOtherDoctor/Rose. IDK, it's just like move on already. But I wrote Eleven/Romana so I guess I shouldn't be judging.

Probably.

Eleven/Romana is all sorts of awesome though.

I'm all for moving on; I just wish I'd find more variety. Not that I'm the one to talk or anything...

''Eleven/Romana is all sorts of awesome though.''

It's just the bestest! Along with every other Doctor/Romana pairing, obvs.XD

Yeah, I do agree with that; it does seem wrong, on the show's own terms and in terms of my own fic-taste.

(Suddenly decides he wants "Eleven/Rose" fic that consists of Rose appearing out of nowhere:

Rose: Doctor!
Eleven: Blimey, it's Rose! (shakes her hand briefly) Right, Pond; what about these cracks?!

Or something...)

Plus, what about poor old Handy?!

Now, I just wonder how I'm going to introduce that "old friend" of Eleven's in this fic without it looking like mean-spirited River-bashing/as bad as Rose/Eleven. Hmmm...

But as we've just straightened out, that "old friend" is always awesome. It's like when the Brig appears out of nowhere in a fic without rhyme, reason or logic - it doesn't matter that it doesn't make sense, it just matters that he's there and everything's going to be better as a result.

;)

I like your thinking! In fact, "well, it's just like when the Brig shows up for no good reason - it's awesome in itself!" has now become my official excuse if anyone asks. I will be using it early and often...

While I like this season better in terms of the Doctor and his (regular) companions, this era has seems to have produced the fics that have interested me the least (except yours, of course). There seems to be even less variety somehow, and much lesser Classic fic. Even the formerly genereous helpings of Doctor/Romana seem to have died out.

I know what you mean. There seems to be less good fic around than there used to be. Practically all the fic I read now is by people on my flist, because I know it's going to be good. Not much good, plotty Eleven fic (as opposed to shippy stuff), and I always wish there was more classic and more Doctor/Romana, as you know.

I'll try and get on with this soon, but... Bloody distracting Sherlock Holmes...grrr...
