Good choice! Runes were his thing, as far as I remember.

Quickly scanning the wiki article, I see that he was into mountain climbing too - amazing how many of these types were - Aleister Crowley, for instance, and Otto Rahn, the chap who went in search of the Holy Grail on behalf of Heinrich Himmler (no, really!)...
