Happy Doctor Who Day...
Nov. 23rd, 2024 08:21 pm ...to those who celebrate. 61 is the new 50, or something. Not sure how others are marking the occasion (there was a time when I would have had my finger on that pulse, but alas), but I've just watched the live watch-along of Boom from the most recent series on the official Doctor Who YouTube channel. It's still a very good episode, imho - extremely Moffat-y if you like that kind of thing (I do!). The Xmas special looks like it might be good too, in the same sorts of ways.
Realising now that I never posted anything about Boom or the remainder of Season 1 (if we're calling it that) because I did my thing again of just disappearing without trace for a while and then popping up back here at vaguely Doctor Who-related moments. I keep saying I'm going to not do that again, but I keep doing it, don't I? And the general state of the world hasn't really got any better in the meantime, has it?
Doctor Who-wise, I've mostly been continuing to work my way slowly through what's on the BBC iPlayer, including the various more-recently animated stories from the 60s, not all of which I've seen before in these particular forms. I hear they're going to do a Daleks in Colour-style edit of The War Games now, which strikes me as...a courageous decision, given how long the original version is. Not exactly something I'm looking forward to, to be honest, but then I was pretty curmudgeonly about The Daleks in Colour - I'm sure a lot of people will enjoy it and have the general feeling that anything that might get the young'uns watching oldschool Who is probably a good thing.
Regarding the remainder of "Season 1," after a fair bit of teasing and misdirection, the Sutekh thing and the finale in general was...extremely RTD-y if you like that kind of thing. I think I've said enough. XD
