Well, hopefully the Great Pumpkin (assuming I'm not wildly mixing up festive occasions) will bring us all what we want tomorrow. Me, I want Moffat being like egregiously Moffat-y, but I suspect in the event he will tone it down a bit for crimbo.

I haven't watched The War Games in Colour yet, not for any particular reason. I may check it out in conjunction with the special tomorrow. That sounds like a plan, in fact.

EDIT: I meant to say, I am going to watch the no doubt very Gatiss-y A Ghost Story for Christmas on BBC Two tonight. That's become a bit of a Christmas Eve tradition for me over the last couple of years, even if they always go for exactly the same "twist" ending every time. :D Knowing the story this year's is based on quite well, I can already imagine exactly how the ending is going to be handled. Who knows, though, maybe I'll be wrong!

EDIT 2: I was wrong! A surprisingly restrained affair compared to past years. Very good, though.

Apart from that, I just want to extend the best wishes of the season to anyone who might be reading this, however you may or may not be celebrating. The world isn't a great place at the moment in lots of ways, it is fair to say, but I think you need to take whatever comfort and joy you can possibly get. All the best. <3

Just to say - I hope wherever you are, whatever your circumstances and whatever holidays you do or do not celebrate, that you get a bit of rest and relaxation at the tail end of what has been yet another year and a half. Have a good one. Watch Doctor Who, any Doctor Who, but only if you want to. :D

...a happy midwinter holiday of your choice, or just a very pleasant 25th of December to all of you at home! :)

FEAST OF STEVEN

And may "The Return of Doctor Mysterio" prove to be one of the good Who Xmas specials (although I'm sure they all have their fans and naysayers, it being Doctor Who and everything).

Well, it's that time of year again (it comes around so quick!). Whatever holidays you are or are not celebrating, whether or not you're ready for River Song and her husbands, please allow me to extend the best wishes of the season to you and yours. I hope you all have a good day tomorrow, whatever you end up doing.

How the...flip did I not know that William Russell was in The Great Escape before seeing him dragged out of a tunnel by a German guard earlier today?!

Alas, the Luftwaffe dude did not exclaim "Hande hoch, Chesterfield!"

Pre-Who, too, as Wiki informs me the film was released in June 1963 - no wonder David McCallum looks about twelve!

In other news, Last Christmas was imho very good indeed - "Sweet Papa Crimbo!"

...the Doctor Who Christmas Special and all through the house...

The actual clip doesn't exist anymore due to the BBC's old space-saving policy (a different sort of space-saving to the kind the Doctor does), but this excellent recon by Youtube user cbatt91337 makes a very serviceable substitute (with an added bit of Python at the start):

Whatever winter holidays you may or may not be celebrating, I wish you a good evening and an excellent tomorrow...and here's hoping the Doctor brings us the present we want. :)

Or indeed whatever other occasion you may or may not be celebrating.

And I hope those of you on my flist who are caught up in the current weather problems here in the UK are all safe and well.

Ahh, Dalekmania!

All I'll say is that there was no way he was flying a Lancaster on operations around about Christmastime 1941 (or 1940, if the telegram was to be believed), considering they didn't enter operational service until March 1942.

I therefore suspect the whole thing was an illusion, part of some sort of elaborate Doctor-trap engineered by the Black Guardian and/or the Celestial Toymaker!

Or possibly not.

Rambling Thoughts Follow. SPOILERS may abound! )

Over the course of this Christmas, I also watched the film The King's Speech. I found it to be something like Victory of the Daleks, without the good bits.

Yes, I know.

Or indeed a merry whatever other winter holiday(s) you and yours may be celebrating. I hope all of you have/have had/are having a good one. :)

I mean, come on, how could they completely disregard canon like that??!! The Blinovitch Limitation Effect is absolutely integral to what makes Doctor Who Doctor Who!!* How dare they...

Well no, actually, it was pretty good really. :D

BAH HUMBUG - SPOILERY SPOILERS!!! )

* although, to be fair, Mawdryn Undead now makes even less sense than it did already... D:
