Oh yes indeed; as you say, there's no point in agonising over the beginning if it stops you from getting on with the meat of the story. I have been mostly reading up on the First Crusade and 12th Century tournaments, actually, rather than writing much more, but yes. I'm going to give the opening another once-over, and finish off the bit about the character and her mum meeting the scary priestesses, and then move onto other stuff. Stuff with knights and archers and things, but a bit further on into the story. I don't know about the killer prologue idea the more that I think of it, it seems a bit too...I don't know what it seems a bit too, but it doesn't seem to fit with the way I want to write this story, even if the way I want to write it turns out to be completely misguided, if you know what I mean... :)
