Ah well, that's the problem, isn't it - poor teaching turns people off subjects like that for the rest of their lives. I suppose if you can get by day-to-day there's no incentive to learn more. I think there are probably adult learning courses etc in maths skills for those who feel like they've lost out, at least I think there probably are here in the UK, until ConDemNation eliminate them as part of their budget cuts, that is...
