Well, I watched it with Small Flatmate, who is not a Fan (she likes the show but in the same way that she likes any of the six billion things she has on DVD, in a not-more-than-anything-else kind of way), and that was basically her reaction; enjoyed it, liked Eleven (it was actually the first Eleven she'd watched) and was quite taken with how silly-strange Idris was. If there was anything that went over her head, she says, it didn't get in the way.
