I was really pleased with the last writing meme I responded to, I got some good stuff out of it, so here's one I picked up from [info]atraphoenix:

Give me two characters from different fandoms you know I'm familiar with, and I'll give you a dialogue happening between the two of them. Without justifying how the crossover would work, how their worlds clashed or how they could even meet each other. Just a silly crossover conversation with no backstory, for fun.

Fandoms I'd be willing to take a stab at: Doctor Who, Torchwood (do they count as different?), X-Files, Firefly, Trek (can you write Trek fic or are Paramount still trying to sue people? - TOS or TNG), Babylon 5, Battlestar Galactica (either version), Red Dwarf, Lord of the RIngs etc., Discworld, any dodgy 70s or 80s TV show, provided I'm familiar with it....er...Buffy, at a stretch. Anything else you can thing of, I'll yay or nay it...

Can't make any guarantees about delivery times, but I will get them done eventually.

Yes, but I thought Seven was going to be the X-Files Doctor? You could do both of course. Maybe the plot could somehow involve Romana, and the Doctor could be looking for her?

Yeah, Seven's going to be the X-Files Doctor (may be a while, because I'm writing Seven right now, and I like to mix things up a bit), but the story I'm thinking of is sort of - sort of - a sequel to that Four-Romana story I wrote called Alien Abduction, which was all about UFOs and government conspiracies and stuff, so seems appropriate. So, there might be some Four/Romana flashbacks or timey wimey bits featuring them. At least, that's the way I'm thinking of it right now.

I just there might be some nice paralells to the Doctor/Romana and Mulder/Scully relationship that might be interesting to explore. But, yes, timey-wimey bits sound lovely indeed.

Oh yeah, I think you could definitely bring that out as well. Actually, I think Four treated Romana a lot better than Mulder sometimes treated Scully - I mean, there was this whole period around about Season 4 or so where Mulder basically acted like a right pr*ck towards her, even if they were "just friends" at that point. Scully should have told him to get lost and gone to work for Cancer Man and the boys in black - they would have appreciated her talents! XD

''I never ditched you!'' Yeah, sure, Fox.

The only time I'd say Four treated Romana outright badly was when he first met her (well, it was kind of mutual then) and in ''Full Circle'' when he's being an idiot about the Gallifrey-bussines.

Other than that: The Doctor and Mulder both had their new partners forced on them by outside (or, well, inside) forces, Romana and Scully are both more practical and sciency than their partners, both the Doctor and Mulder possibly had a tendency to take the ladies for granted, and both relationship have an subtext-y vibe to them. Also Scully and Romana are actually quite attracted to the crazy, crazy ways of their men.

Yeah, but you know, screenwriting logic: when two characters take such an instant dislike to each other as Four and Romana I appeared to, It's Only Going To End One Way... XD

I think the Doctor's refusal to give Romana a break in Full Circle was his attempt to spare her from the life of a renegade (or from what happened to Jamie and Zoe after the Time Lords caught up with him the _last time_ he defied them). If she hadn't stayed in E-Space, he'd probably have relented at some point. Possibly...

The similarities are there, definitely. Another one; both Romana and Scully give the impression of being all straight-laced and by-the-book, but you quickly realise they're both as awesome as anything, really. Plus, they can take charge in a crisis.
