The imaginary award for quote of the year has to go to Subir Sarkar, head of particle theory at the University of Oxford, in the Grauniad's story on the no doubt very-soon-to-be-disproved news about scientists in Italy discovering perhaps-possibly-maybe faster than light particles:

"If we do not have causality, we are buggered."

Indeed we are. I believe that was also formerly the motto of the Department of Causality, Prydon Academy, Gallifrey.
