Another slight change of plan to the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Masterplan I unveiled last week...

Who was it who said no battle plan ever survives contact with the enemy? Clausewitz? Sun Tzu? Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart? The enemy, in this context, would be the people who run and administer Livejournal, who seem determined to drive off as many of their existing users as possible.

Personally, I'm the sort of human doormat who muddles through when something like the impending big friends page change harshes my enjoyment of some online resource, but I know many of you, very rightly, are not. I had planned to muddle through here on LJ until I was pretty much the only person left here who wasn't a Russian political activist, but my 50th Anniversary scheme somewhat kiboshes that, as I of course want at least some of you to participate in it with me. :)

So, I'm just letting you know that in view of the uncertain future of Doctor Who fandom on LJ, I'm going to be running the 50th Anniversary comm across both Dreamwidth and LJ. People are of course free to interact and participate from whichever of the two sites they prefer, as the comm and everything I post on it will be mirrored across both.

So, seeing as I'm new to actually actively posting on Dreamwidth, would any of you know any comms etc. there that I really ought to be subscribed to, as a fan of Doctor Who, science fiction, genre TV and films, etc (i.e. places I can advertise this plan around when I finally make my move some time in the next couple of weeks?)

You could always start with [community profile] doctorwho! Also, [community profile] gallifrey_times (Dreamwidth's equivalent of [livejournal.com profile] who_daily) maintains a list of active Doctor Who comms.

You will! And by then I'll be done with writing all the non-fiction that's been taking up space in my brain, and it can return to its regularly scheduled fic-writing instead :)

I think it was my Sontaran look-alike, Commander Stor (or whatever his name was).

Give me the name of this comm here on DW and tell me it's okay to track it and I will put in the [community profile] gallifrey_times. (Plus, I'd like to join.) Also, advertise it in [community profile] doctorwho and [community profile] fandomcalendar (I think that's the name of it). There is a comm here on DW where you can advertise your comm, but I forget the name at the moment. Also, I think there is [community profile] fandom_on_dw. Come to think of it, go to [community profile] gallifrey_times and click on the Active Community list on the sidebar --- I should think just about any of those communities would be happy to let you pimp your comm. Feel free to pimp it on [community profile] doctor_and_master.

Of course, in return for this wealth of information I have provided, I ask you for the following: If you run across any other Whovian comms that aren't on the Active Community list, please let me know. I'll ask their mods for permission to track (Dreamwidth people have traditionally been more concerned about privacy and controlling distribution of their end product than people on LJ, so I try to respect that.)
