Tis The Season...
Dec. 24th, 2025 08:48 pmJust breaking my by-now habitual radio silence to extend the best wishes of the season to anyone reading this. Merry (insert midwinter holiday of your choosing) to you and yours. I know it has been a rough year for a lot of people, but here's hoping you get at least a couple of days of rest and respite, if not now then soon. <3
Not a lot to report from my side - just doing my usual thing of vanishing and popping up again and vanishing. Doctor Who (or rather the way it ended, hopefully not for good) has demoralised me considerably, to the extent I haven't watched the We-Don't-Call-Them-Sea-Devils-Now thing yet. I really don't know why RTD reverting to form when it came to story arcs and season finales came as such a nasty surprise. At least he is true to himself, and also isn't Chris Chibnall. XD I was kind of right about the dangers of getting into bed with the Haus of Maus, though, wasn't I?
2025's saving grace for me, fandom-wise, was Andor, the Star Wars spinoff. Seriously good stuff that might as well have been tailor-made to tick all my idiosyncratic nerdy boxes.
Anyway, I'm going to watch the Ghost Story for Christmas on BBC2 before I go to bed. It has become my Xmas Eve ritual in recent years, as I may have mentioned previously. As with last year's, it's based on a short story I am quite familiar with from all those ghost story anthologies I used to read as a nipper, so it will be interesting to see what Gatiss does with it.
So long for now. :)
