That was Lis Sladen's husband??!!

Apparently, he was also the luckless Mr Buttle in Brazil, which if you haven't seen it, do; top movie and Michael "National Institution" Palin is kind of terrifying in it...

By spoiler or by sight? If it was by sight, I am extra-impressed with your Who-fu, or Who-sense or whatever you call it... XD

Apparently, the internets informed me, he did Dalek voices on some of the 70s and 80s stories, including Remembrance.

And they've been married for 40 years - good for them.

And now I look like some sort of creepy Lis Sladen obsessive...er... ;D

Oh dear... 8-o I just accidentally clicked on your friends page instead of mine.

And: If it was my mention, then I really, really apologise for not also mentioning that if you join [livejournal.com profile] runaway_tales, don't click the 'watch this community' option or your friends page drowns in ice cream flavours. It's sort of bizarre. I kind of vaguely imagine that no one reads my rambling posts. If you got onto it via Spotlight, I'll shut up.

(I'm sorry about all these comments, I swear this is mere Sunday idleness and not some sort of weird net )stalking / bulling whatever.

Yeah, I got onto it via your post, because it looked interesting, but I'm not sure what the deal with the ice cream flavours is, or what exactly you're supposed to do (write fanfic about your own original fic characters, is that the idea?). Reading the group profile might be an idea, eh? ;D

Well, as for idleness, I've done nothing that I planned to do this weekend, apart from watch the football today (we won!) and watch SJA and Doctor Who... Well, there are worse ways to waste a weekend I suppose... ;D

Sort of. I think it's up to you - it can be a Story/World that's just ongoing scenes through the various challenges or you can use them to tell a straight original story. But the 'Toppings' allow you to fan fic it a bit. The ice cream flavours are the challenges - each contains 30 prompts to work through. I am still just lurking, but I like writing games and it looks like a possible way to try things out without having to get too bogged down in it.

Weekends are like that. Well, so I find. I plan to do about 100 things and am lucky if I manage 1. And this one even had an extra hour. Still, no, that doesn't sound bound. (Oh, you won - well, then it MUST be a good day!)

And, re Mr Lis Sladen, I knew from both, although I did forget for a bit. He was in Snakedance, too, so I recognised him from that.

He was? I'll have to watch that again and keep an eye out for him.

Hmm... Well, when I work out how to do it, I might have a go at that. I find prompts and things very useful in getting me writing, even if I end up going off on tangents and kind of straying from the original point. I just never sign up for any of the challenges etc, because I know how bad I am at sticking to deadlines (cf. comments re wasted weekend! ;D). Well, maybe I need to learn some discipline or something!

I've temporarily stopped watching the group though, as it was making it a bit hard to keep up with my friends list, having to wade through dozens of posts about raspberry ripple, or mint choc chip, or whatever they were about ;D

He's Dugdale, the showman. I may have watched that serial too many times?

Well, it has no deadlines - all very laid back and up to the pster, as far as I can see. I quite like both prompts and deadlines at times. Yes, I did exactly the same thing, which was why I gave myself a mental slap for not mentioning it earlier. I just left, rejoined and put it on my favourites instead. The ice cream was overwhelming.

See, I'd forgotten the showman's name as well, so I must not have watched it enough times! ;-D

The only time I've ever tried writing Whofic to a deadline was a self-imposed one; that Ten Doctors fic last year, I wanted to post it on Nov 23, the 45th anniversary. It kept growing, though, as I tried to give every single Doctor and companion at least one moment in the spotlight. Still, I think without the time factor, I might not have finished it at all.

So that's definitely a good thing about deadlines then! it was an excellent fic and somebody needed to post something like that on the day. (*recklessly hugs Six at the thought of the fic* Six: Madam, please have the goodness to unhand me! / Me: Oh sorry, can't think whatr came over me. I'm usually so shy and retiring. Six: You could have fooled me, young lady.) Um, where was I?

From: [identity profile] jjpor.livejournal.com
Yeah, well, Six probably could have done without that particular moment in the spotlight, couldn't he? XD

Heheh, Six. I want to write more Six one of these days, definitely.

Speaking of which; I need to go and catch up with Stardust!

Aw, I shouldn't keep mentioning it! (But I do. Possibly just to balance out all the 'your fic is wonderful' stuff). I should add how much it still makes me smile that Seven came early and hid.

Oo-oo. :-D

Heh - thanks! And thanks too for that balancing thing - the cranial deflation you provide enables me to get out through narrow doors and everything! ;D

Heh, I knew that. BUT only because I'd happened upon some sort of interview based around the up-coming episode. And that was less than a month ago. So, I wouldn't be doubting your Who-Fu yet...

Well, that's a relief! I seem to have avoided spoilers for this round of SJA, mainly by accident. I normally don't mind spoilers at all.

Well, apart from the BIG one of course; less than 24 hours to go!

My only dilemma is whether to watch the first part tomorrow night, or save them both for the weekend. Hmm...decisions, decisions...

Ah, come on, you know you're going to be running to watch it ASAP with the rest of us. And then hoping straight onto the DbyA to complain about how the Doctor should stay out of the SJA because in his current incarnation he is clearly out-awesomed by Clyde.
