Fic: A Ghost Story for Christmas, Part Two

UNIT Xmas flashback! Without wanting to pick sides in the UNIT dating controversy, I have decided for reasons of my own that this is set at Christmastime 1971 (which would mean that Season 8 takes place not at its airtime, or even in the 80s, but in 1971-72, but let's not get into all that...) I always seem to have Delgado!Master smoking cigars in my fic, even though I think he did so precisely once onscreen. It seems to fit his image, though...

Oh, wow, you've written it already?

And here it was sounding like it'd be a very timely Christmas Eve posting.

I'll catch up with it as soon as I can. (I had to watch Spooks on iplayer earlier. I'm sorry, but that came first!!!)

One warning: I note mention of the Brig's family, so, well - contradict my own personal S7 continuity and I will have to kill you, (because yours will immediately overwrite mine in my head, curse you with your too-good fic writing).

This is just a warning. I like to be fair about these things.

(This is part of the reason I'm worried. I spent most of 2008 writing those fics, you know. :lol:)

Well, it may yet be a timely Xmas posting, because I just decided to stop fighting the fic-creep and embrace the burgeoning multi-partedness of the thing. I have got quite a lot written though, even if it isn't like _finished_ yet, so it's still on-schedule. Kind of.

I...well, I was in two minds myself about some of the Brig-relationship stuff in this, whether or not it paints old Alistair in a bit of a bad light some of it. I'm still working on the best way to present some of that stuff. Please don't kill me! ;D

And you mean that isn't it? There's more? You said two parts. Honestly, I'll never trust anyone who talks about world domination and uses icons of the Master repeatedly again.

You write the Brigadier so well, I'm sure I will enjoy it all very much and not want to kill you. Except out of jealousy and brain-eating intentions, but that's a compliment, really, isn't it?

A fic's gotta be what a fic's gotta be. It's true. ;-) They have a shape and you just end up with a mishapen thing if you don't give in.

As you may have learned by now, when I go making promises/claims surrounding my fics, they very rarely pan out. As you say below, this villainy is catching...

Yes, the fic is in charge now; I probably ought to bend it to my will, and make It Obey Me, but I'm a bit of a wimp when it comes to fighting with fic.

And I guess that being killed for reasons of jealousy and brain-eating is something to be proud of. Or something. ;D

Really, the things I type when I've been working all day - and, moving on from the subject of my fics, urgh, brain-eating. I'm sorry. Eek. I swear I'm sane again, for the weekend at least.

:lol: I now have images of you sort of limply flattened underneath the bullying Christmas fic. (I have a strange literal brain). Possibly still in full Ainley Master regalia...

(And I'm with John - the Doctor is a rotter who eats all people's sandwiches. Don't let him have a mince pie - or at least, not any brandy butter on it. :lol:)

Well, I think you'll agree it's a lot less embarrassing than full Roberts Master regalia...I save that for special occasions...

Next bit is up - the mince pie question hopefully resolved to everybody's satisfaction. Check it out and let me know what you think of my Three - I've never really tried writing Three properly before.

And I've just read the next bit - I thought it was great. And regular Three is much the same as cake besplattered, chained to Ten Three, you know, so you needn't worry.

I'm glad to see Three didn't get his mince pies. (I think all of my Three fics - barring one only - have been written as a kind of revenge on him for the Brigadier, Jo, Benton and Liz. And the Master. Sort of - I like him, really!)

Thank you very much, btw; I'm glad you liked my Three. You're probably right about the cake-bespattered thing! I purposefully withheld the mince pies from him thanks to John's reminding me about the sandwich-stealing thing - he deserved it! ;D

Oh, I think they both _wanted_ to - you definitely get that vibe from the Season 7 stories. Whether they actually did, however, is another question - there were factors working against them, and then of course she went and left, which may not have been entirely coincidental...
