A Meme!

Trying and failing to write anything this evening, so I thought I'd do this meme I got from [livejournal.com profile] gypsylady instead:

Go to Wikipedia and hit random. The first random Wikipedia article you get is the name of your band.
Go to quotationspage.com and hit random. The last four or five words of the very last quote of the page is the title of your first album.
Go to flickr and click on explore the last seven days. Third picture, no matter what it is, will be your album cover.
Use photoshop or similar to put it all together. Post it with this text in the caption.

No, I hadn't abandoned the 30 Days meme, just...put it on hiatus at those TV types say. So, to continue:

Day Eighteen: Whatever Tickles Your Fancy

Well, I did swerve the "Favourite Fanfic" question yesterday, partly because I didn't really want to go singling out just one out of all the fanfic I've read, because I didn't think  I could anyway, and you know what about all the other people who've written fanfic on their own time for the love of it, providing me with hours of free entertainment; I don't want them to think I didn't like theirs as much, do I?

Instead, and with a bit of arm-twisting from my associate [livejournal.com profile] lost_spook , it has to be said :D, have some recs. These are fics I've favourited on the Teaspoon that I think more people should read. I've tried to pick ones I've read a while ago and maybe forgotten about as opposed to well-worn favourites, things I think you my flist should read if you haven't, because I think they're kind of cool:

A Two-for-the-price-of-one post in an effort to get caught up with this meme:

Day Sixteen: Your Favourite Who-related Fanfic

After the Tumblr non-answer the other day, this is going to be the second question I swerve in these 30 days I had a clear favourite classic oldWho story, I kind of made myself decide on answers for the favourite NuWho story and favourite Who season questions, but this one...this is just too difficult. I've read a lot of fanfic, I've liked most of it, and loved quite a bit of it. So when people are going out of their way to provide me with free online reading material, and when so much of it is well worth reading, I find it impossible to single out just one story as the best of them all, and I don't think I'd want to either. My flist buddy [livejournal.com profile] clocketpatch  put it far better in her response to this question anyway.

Day Seventeen: A Piece of Who Related Fan Art:

This one is much easier to answer, as it isn't asking me to pin down a favourite. In fact, have two pieces of Who-related fanart. I first saw these what seems like a long time ago, and a lot of you have probably seen them too, but they never fail to make me smile:

mimi-na.deviantart.com/art/Doctor-s-Girls-46247500

mimi-na.deviantart.com/art/Doctor-s-Boys-58481472

In fact, that second one might have inspired me to write my fic The Ten Doctors (www.whofic.com/viewstory.php) , come to think of it...

Day Fifteen: Favourite Who-Related Tumblr

My favourite what-related what??!! Next question!

Seriously, Tumblr is something that has completely passed me by, so I don't have an answer to this one. Sorry.

Day Fourteen: The Villain Who Scared You the Most

Sorry to go delving into the childhood nostalgia again, but I was thinking the other day about classic Who* moments that really scared me as a nipper. There were several; I can picture them now and they still give me a little bit of a tingle despite them not seeming objectively scary any more. In no particular order, they would be; the faces getting melted off in Resurrection of the Daleks; the glass Dalek in Revelation of the Daleks; the bit where Mags starts turning into a werewolf in Greatest Show in the Galaxy; the bit where Peri is turning into a bird in Vengeance on Varos. And this bloke:

So yeah, maybe it was the voice, maybe it was the way he was introduced as a shadow before revealing himself, maybe it was the incredibly realistic mask that must have represented a sizeable chunk of S26's effects budget, or maybe it was the drool... Whatever it was, the Destroyer out of Battlefield absolutely scared the proverbial out of me, and he still does in a  way, even all this time later.

The Brig sorted him out though...

*I don't count NuWho scary moments, btw, because that would involve admitting that my 27 or 28-year-old self spent a good part of The Empty Child and indeed The Impossible Planet in a state of absolute dread... It was fantastic, as Nine would say! XD

Yes, a day behind on the old meme again!

Day Eleven: Your Favourite Season (Classic or New)

Now, this is a really difficult one because there are quite a few contenders, and unlike the favourite stories questions, there aren't any obvious ones that leap to the fore, because I think there a few really strong Who seasons. S7 is consistently excellent, with some of the most thoughtful and mature stories in the programme's history. All of the Four seasons are excellent in their own different ways, and Seasons 16-18 are especial favourites of mine, for slightly different reasons (yes, even S18). Season 5/31/whatever we're calling it also recently blew me away. And then there's Seven...

Day Ten: A Who-Related Photo That You Took

Well, imagine my embarrassment to discover that I apparently have never taken any Who-related photos in my entire life! So I took one especially for the purposes of this meme - I hope you're all happy now...

Yes, it's some of my Doctor Who books, specifically Target novelisations. There are some more slightly to the left (NAs/EDAs start to the right), but I don't actually own all that many really - I read a lot more of these back in the day, either from the library or in school.
