Of course, magic doesn't really exist in the Whoniverse - it's sufficiently advanced technology, and I leave it up to the reader to decide what relationship, if any, exists between the pre-WW1 Inspector Davidson and the modern-day PC Andy.

Fic: The Volteze Falcon, Part Six: Kobayashi Unimportant

The jaw-dropping conclusion! The heist of the aeon ends as all great heists do, with double-crossing, backstabbing and generally unethical behaviour. The agenda of the mysterious Kobayashi Unimportant is finally revealed - please try not to laugh too hard at the big twist - this started out as an attempt at crazy crack after all, even if it did kind of...grow... Oh, and I hope Harry's old man's attitude to certain things doesn't offend too much. So, Mexican standoffs! Twist and counter-twist! Daring escapes! Stunning betrayals! All this and naked bottoms too - because I'm out of control, people!

Possible SPOILERS for Torchwood: Children of Earth!

Fic: The Volteze Falcon, Part Four: Captain Jack Harkness

So, on we go. Jack is the main character in this part, and I try to take into account all that he went through in Children of Earth, and how it might have affected his character. I understand that not everybody enjoyed that story and/or wants to consider it canon, but I did, for what it's worth, and I hope my referencing it here doesn't ruin this chapter for some people. So, be warned; possible CoE spoilers! Also, more about the mysterious Kobayashi Unimportant and who he might be and what his game is; I suspect I may give the game away totally in this part, but hopefully not. And some stuff that might not make a whole lot of sense if you haven't seen the recent SJA story "The Mad Woman in the Attic", but hopefully that won't spoil people's enjoyment.

Fic: Torchwood 1913: Jack be Nimble, Chapter 9

The next topping instalment! Mostly talking, this part, as Lydia reveals that the "devil" sighting may just be the tip of the iceberg. Spring Heeled Jack and the Devon "Devil's Footprints" are (allegedly) "genuine" Victorian-era unexplained mysteries. And Team Torchwood's male contingent act like idiots. More references to my other story "Scareship" at the start - I'll try to stop doing that...

Among my other many and varied interests, I am a sometime student of the weird and phantasmagorical. Which is to say, those Arthur C Clarke "world of the unexplained" type programmes and those Usborne books about monsters, UFO etc made a big impression on my primary-school-aged self back in the 80s. Unfortunately, in later life, I come to realise that it's all bunk, but entertaining bunk and that's the main thing.

Anyway, this tickled me greatly; it's a pretty extreme example of the kind of bonkers propaganda stories that came out of WW1; fodder for another retro-Torchwood story methinks, or maybe some truly deranged original fiction:
