Because I haven't done a lj meme for a while. I got this one from
akashasheiress .
Give me a character from any fandom, tv show, movie, book you know that I know and I will tell you:
a. My favorite thing about that character.
b. My least favorite thing about that character.
c. One person I would ship them with in their own verse.
d. One crossover ship for them I think would be neat.
e. One crossover universe for them I think would be even neater.
f. Their ship from hell.
g. Their song.
h. The title of their biography or autobiography.
i. The last bad dream they had.
j. How they're gonna shuffle off the mortal coil, if they haven't already.

Date: 2010-03-30 09:20 pm (UTC)a. I'm always amused by his arrogant posturing; tries to present this image of himself as the take-charge military type, but it's fatally undermined by the fact that actually he's a failed chicken-soup-machine repairman and a complete coward to boot.
b. His deep, abiding self-hatred. It's the thing that drives everything else about him, and sometimes you can't help but feel sorry for him about it. He seems to have had a horrible family life and childhood, and it's left its mark on him.
c. Well, I don't know if it's a ship, exactly, but him and Lister did have an excellent old married couple vibe - Holly knew what s/he was doing when s/he chose to resurrect Rimmer as Lister's permanent companion, I think.
d. I think the notion of Rimmer actually having an actual relationship with anyone is a bit unlikely, but... It'd be interesting to pair him with a strong, military sort of woman; someone like Zoe from Firefly. She'd simultaneously fascinate and terrify him, I think.
e. With regard to my comments about Rose above; I think the notion of "Ace" Rimmer barging into Doctor Who is a fairly amusing one. I've (twice) written fanfic along those lines, anyway...
f. See c. ;D Or quite possibly, for "normal" Rimmer to be stuck on a spaceship forever with the original "Ace" - would it count as murder or suicide?
g. Well, he actually has a canon song! Altogether now! "Arnold, Arnold, Arnold Rimmer...etc..."
h. To steal a title from Spike Milligan, Adolf Hitler: My Part in his Downfall, a riveting account of the bloody military campaign on Waxworld, including scurrilous accusations levelled at St. Francis of Assisi...
i. "Alphabetti Spaghetti???!!!"
j. He failed to repair the drive plate properly, or something, didn't he? It would seem, however, that all of the various "Ace" Rimmers across the multiverse meet with a sticky end sooner or later, so he has that to look forward to all over again...

Date: 2010-03-30 09:41 pm (UTC)Now I want crackfic! explaining how Rimmer (as Ace? you know post season 5) or Rimmer2 (the one resurrected by the nanobots) gets into a relation with Zoe (Post-Wash) and in the end dies as a result of said relationship.

Date: 2010-03-30 10:07 pm (UTC)Hmm, if it was "Ace", it would involve overwhelming odds, I imagine, and probably singlehandely taking down the Alliance with him... Actually, the interactions between him and the other crew members would be comedy gold. Ace Rimmer and Jayne in the same room... ;D

And now I've got a picture of Mal and Kaylee going "What a guy." just after he left for the shuttle.

Date: 2010-03-31 08:53 pm (UTC)I think, and I could be wrong, that he wasn't actually responsible, but his guilt complex and egocentricity kicked in. At least, that's how Kryten got him off.

Date: 2010-04-01 07:20 am (UTC)Heh, yes, you should, if only for the manic commentaries. I particularly like S5's where Craig Charles couldn't make it, so Chris Barrie just does an impression instead...
