Because I haven't done a lj meme for a while. I got this one from [livejournal.com profile] akashasheiress .

Give me a character from any fandom, tv show, movie, book you know that I know and I will tell you:

a. My favorite thing about that character.
b. My least favorite thing about that character.
c. One person I would ship them with in their own verse.
d. One crossover ship for them I think would be neat.
e. One crossover universe for them I think would be even neater.
f. Their ship from hell.
g. Their song.
h. The title of their biography or autobiography.
i. The last bad dream they had.
j. How they're gonna shuffle off the mortal coil, if they haven't already.

Rose from Doctor Who. Ha.

a. I like the compassion she shows in S1 - even for a Dalek (okay, so she didn't really know what a Dalek was/was like, but they're not the most loveable things even so).
b. Her possessiveness of the Doctor, I guess; that, and her frankly obnoxious behaviour in S2, but her and Ten were encouraging each other in that...
c. Mickey. I think she gave him the short end of the stick; I wish she could have seen the more admirable qualities in him.
d. "Ace" Rimmer from Red Dwarf - I think she has the skills and experience now to accompany him on some ridiculous adventure around the stars...poor Handy, though...
e. I'd like to see her in Eastenders, I think; sorting out the usual nonsense down the Queen Vic with some sort of enormous Gun o' Death...
f. Handy!Ten, I think; it's not just Rose-bashing bitterness, I really don't think that's going to end well. They both want things that the other can't give them, because they're stuck in the Infernoverse, not travelling in the TARDIS any more.
g. Drops of Jupiter by Train, the one on that Donna vid on DWLive. Sung from Mickey's POV, I think...
h. Rose Tyler: My Shocking Story. Amazing Extracts in the News of the World this Sunday!
i. She doesn't remember the details, but she was trying very hard to keep hold of somebody's hand, but ended up letting go, and then she was falling, falling into the darkness as the light disappeared into the distance... She woke up to the sound of Handy snoring next to her.
j. In the course of some heroic misadventure, defending Mirror!Earth from horrors from the stars, because I don't think she's ever just going to settle down and raise kids, not after that experience of travelling with the Doctor.

Rimmer - Red Dwarf

Yeah I know not very original.

Of to snug that meme for myself...

Rimmer:

a. I'm always amused by his arrogant posturing; tries to present this image of himself as the take-charge military type, but it's fatally undermined by the fact that actually he's a failed chicken-soup-machine repairman and a complete coward to boot.
b. His deep, abiding self-hatred. It's the thing that drives everything else about him, and sometimes you can't help but feel sorry for him about it. He seems to have had a horrible family life and childhood, and it's left its mark on him.
c. Well, I don't know if it's a ship, exactly, but him and Lister did have an excellent old married couple vibe - Holly knew what s/he was doing when s/he chose to resurrect Rimmer as Lister's permanent companion, I think.
d. I think the notion of Rimmer actually having an actual relationship with anyone is a bit unlikely, but... It'd be interesting to pair him with a strong, military sort of woman; someone like Zoe from Firefly. She'd simultaneously fascinate and terrify him, I think.
e. With regard to my comments about Rose above; I think the notion of "Ace" Rimmer barging into Doctor Who is a fairly amusing one. I've (twice) written fanfic along those lines, anyway...
f. See c. ;D Or quite possibly, for "normal" Rimmer to be stuck on a spaceship forever with the original "Ace" - would it count as murder or suicide?
g. Well, he actually has a canon song! Altogether now! "Arnold, Arnold, Arnold Rimmer...etc..."
h. To steal a title from Spike Milligan, Adolf Hitler: My Part in his Downfall, a riveting account of the bloody military campaign on Waxworld, including scurrilous accusations levelled at St. Francis of Assisi...
i. "Alphabetti Spaghetti???!!!"
j. He failed to repair the drive plate properly, or something, didn't he? It would seem, however, that all of the various "Ace" Rimmers across the multiverse meet with a sticky end sooner or later, so he has that to look forward to all over again...

*singsalong* ".. he could never be mistaken for Yul Brynner..."

Now I want crackfic! explaining how Rimmer (as Ace? you know post season 5) or Rimmer2 (the one resurrected by the nanobots) gets into a relation with Zoe (Post-Wash) and in the end dies as a result of said relationship.

"...Arnold, Arnold Rimmer!"

Hmm, if it was "Ace", it would involve overwhelming odds, I imagine, and probably singlehandely taking down the Alliance with him... Actually, the interactions between him and the other crew members would be comedy gold. Ace Rimmer and Jayne in the same room... ;D

j. He failed to repair the drive plate properly, or something, didn't he?

I think, and I could be wrong, that he wasn't actually responsible, but his guilt complex and egocentricity kicked in. At least, that's how Kryten got him off.

Yes, that's right (I need to get some Red Dwarf on DVD or something, when I'm more certain of my financial future - it's been a while since I've seen some of those eps!). Goes back to the point above about self-loathing, I suppose.

Kamelion.

Hahaha. Why yes, I am evil.

Date: 2010-03-30 09:33 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] jjpor.livejournal.com
Oh dear...

a. I think Kamelion was a character that had a lot of potential and could have been used in interesting ways in a number of different stories.
b. The fact that he/she/it never lived up to that potential, and instead spent most of its time aboard the TARDIS, well, out of sight somewhere...
c. I think we know my thoughts on that particular issue...don't make me say them out loud... Okay, the Doctor, for a variety of reasons.
d. Well, while Kamelion was pretending to be King John, he could get involved in the whole Robin Hood story (your version of choice - just not the rubbish recent BBC version), and end up having some kind of thing with Marian. Or possibly Robin. I'd have to work on the details...
e. The rebooted version of Battlestar Galactica; Kamelion could be the Cylons' ultimate weapon...
f. Jack Harkness; he'd just get Kamelion to pretend to be him forever. Best not to think about what happens next. ;D
g. The Great Pretender.
h. Kamelion actually wrote several dozen different autobiographies, all under different names and with completely different details. The poor machine had to do something during all those long, lonely hours aboard the TARDIS while everybody else was out adventuring.
i. I don't know, something involving mirrors, probably. Yes, wandering for hours on end in a hall of mirrors, and not being able to see his/her/its reflection in any of them...
j. Well, we know what happened there, don't we? And the worst part was that the Master survived anyway (somehow?!).

Seven!

Date: 2010-03-30 10:00 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] jjpor.livejournal.com
Hmmm...

a. His sense of right and wrong, and his willingness to do whatever it takes to fulfil that sense. Moral purpose, maybe; he acts with a definite agenda, without fear or favour, but for the best of reasons. And he regrets it when he has to do questionable things for the sake of those reasons, instead of shrugging the consequences off like many "heroes" seem to do (although it doesn't stop him!).
b. The way he sometimes oversteps the mark in his self-appointed mission. I'm talking about things like manipulating Ace; he does it for her own good, mostly; cruel to be kind. But sometimes, the cruelty outweighs the kindness, especially for someone like Ace who isn't the most stable of people to begin with. I'm probably just being soppy, there; Ace could take it, really, and seems to have ended up better off as a result of it all, so...
c. The Seven/Rani vibes we get in Time and the Rani make me smile. I think it could work, in a weird way. Or the girl Ray in Delta and the Bannermen; there was something very cheerful and healthy about their relationship, quite different from the twisty, twisted friendship he later had with Ace. The idea of him catching up with Romana years later also interests me, when they've both been through so much and become such different people to the carefree honeymooners-around-the-universe they were in S17; it'd be very bittersweet, I think. Okay, that was three people. ;D
d. Hmmm...I'm racking my brains on this one, and I'm coming up blank. Despite what I say above and below, I don't know if I really think of Seven in "shippy" terms, in that sense; any ideas?
e. Well, I've talked about it before, but I think Seven would be excellent in an X-Files story. To Mulder and Scully, he would probably come across as the de facto villain of the week, and they'd never quite get a handle on who he was or what he was up to; they'd just be left to clear up the debris he left behind.
f. Well, _my_ ship from hell where Seven is concerned is him/Ace. I'm not saying that there wasn't something there that went beyond mere friendship/mentoring, something deep and dark and psychological, but nothing straightforwardly physical. The idea squicks me out a little. ;D
g. Mr Tambourine Man; I don't know, it seems to capture something of the magical, pied-piper-ish aspect Seven can have. As well as being incredibly psychedelic; as Ace observes in Greatest Show in the Galaxy, he's a bit of an old hippy. ;D
h. I don't think Seven would ever write an autobiography. Ten, however, just before he regenerated, found a five hundred year diary in the TARDIS library, crammed full of tiny, neat handwriting. It made for some disturbing reading.
i. Would you allow yourself to dream if you'd done the things Seven's done? He does, however, occasionally get some of his past incarnations trying to have a word with him telepathically as he sleeps. He ignores them.
j. Well, we know how, and very ignominious it was too. I'd like to say there was some sort of bitter dramatic irony in the ultimate schemer and plotter getting killed as a result of carelessness and blind bad luck (and medical negligence - Grace!), but I don't think the people behind the TVM were that clever. ;D

a. Oh, definitely his ridiculous never-give-up attitude; no matter how many times he loses, he's always back for more. And he always goes for the evil back-stab, even when it isn't in his best interests to do it. Gotta love that.
b. The way he always has to define himself in terms of his "thing" with the Doctor. With his brains and capacity for blackhearted evil, he could achieve great/terrifying things, but he wastes all his time trying to get the Doctor to notice him...
c. Well, he definitely has a...thing going with regard to the Doctor, but I think Delgado Master also had a bit of a soft spot for Jo Grant. Now, whether Jo would be happy about the idea is another question...
d. Hmm. The Master/Servalan from Blakes 7 - who would betray/kill who first? ;D
e. I'd like to see him just show up in some random crime/terrorism drama like the Bill, or Spooks or something, as the apparent baddie of the week. But then Our Heroes realise how out of their depth they are...
f. I think if the Doctor ever did "notice" him, it'd be a bit of a black day for the Master - I think he enjoys all of the stupid plotting and everything far more, and the Doctor would never submit to his will anyway, so it'd all be very disappointing to him I think.
g. Easy. Sympathy for the Devil by the Rolling Stones.
h. If I Ruled the World...
i. The same dream he has every night; him and the Doctor at the Academy, the time the Doctor turned down his offer of studying together to go and sneak into the Rani's dormitory instead...
j. Come on, now; the Master always survives. ;D
